Norcal Gold Country Trip

sf image

Since my brother Dave is moving up to Mokelumne Hill, I decided to start my annual Nor Cal trip driving up Highway 49. Starting at Oakhurst (gateway to Yosemite)I made my way along the Golden Cain Highway stopping at the different towns along the way. there are many interesting small towns to explore including Bootjack, Mariposa, Bear Valley, Coulterville, Moccasin, Chinese Camp, Jamestown, Sonora, Columbia, Angels Camp, San Andreas, Jackson, and Sutter Creek. It was rather hot ( 105 degrees) so I didn't explore as many towns as I wanted to.

fish I did stop and explore Columbia. This is an old town (Park) with all buildings constructed or reproduced from the 1800's. Only horse drawn carriages are allowed in town, so you need to park on the outskirts and walk in. Most of the structures are actual businesses including an old theater, saloon, and plenty of places to eat.

Afterwards I headed further west to Sutter Creek. Downtown was less than a 1/4 mile from the motel, so I walked down for dinner and to explore the area.

After a good nights rest I headed down highway 88 and highway 12 to Dave and Shaun's house in Antioch. I love visiting my brother Dave and the kids. They always treat me like a king. We spent the day (and night) swimming, eating, and watching movies

Next I was off to San Francisco to visit Matt. I never get tired of the city as we continue to explore new areas every time I come up to visit. spent the first day just talking and watching movies. Had dinner at a great little Vietnamese place. The next day we took a hike up and down the hills and stairs, finally ending up on a hill with a beautiful view of the city. We went out for Peruvian Food which I enjoyed.

The Next day I stopped to see Pat and dad. We spent most of the evening just talking and enjoying each others company.
